Hi Everyone. My GGG GRANDFATHER was a John Tarte born in 1806 in eaton constantine shropshire His son was another John Tarte born 1837. The family were master brickmakers.Family story has it that they supplied the bricks for the old market hall in Shrewsbury.
Apparently the company was called Treasure and Tarte.?
Would there be a record somewhere that would confirm this company existed ?

Treasure and sons were listed as brick makers in 1858,1871,1895 & 1899.

In the 1890's I think that they started trading as Building Material Supply Stores who are still going as B.M.S.S.

George Tart was a brick maker at Eaton Constantine in 1895.

It might be worth contacting B.M.S.S., Wood Street,Shrewsbury (01743 235191) to
see if they know of the business' history.
