I know that horse races have been held at Kingsland,Bicton and Monkmoor but does anyone know about races being held at Meole in the late 1930's?

There was one at Meole apparently but I don't know where. Several meetings were held during World War 2 at the "old" Meole course and the Whit Monday meeting in 1943 attracted a crowd of four thousand. There was a course at Bayston Hill as well. This is taken from "A Town at War" by Kenneth Simcox published by Shropshire Libraries in 1983

many thanks for that,I have that book but I haven't read it for ages I will have to dig it out.
I was recently given a poster that advertised a meet on 8/6/1939 near the golf links.
admission was 2 shiilings with 100 pounds prize money.
there were 7 races including trotting races.
