good news,

no need for all those arguments about whose turn it is to be the "designated driver"

now we can all get drunk and then jump in our cars,safe in the knowledge that if we get stopped we can just "do an otis" and explain that our mates have obviously spiked our drinks.

this decision stinks!

I'm surprised not to have seen much more about this in the press as it's ideal fodder for The Sun etc.

He didn't get off as he was heavily fined but escaped a ban, it being accepted that there were mitigating circumstances in that he did not know his drinks were being laced. A precedent may well have been set unless there is an appeal.

What I wonder is whether those who allegedly gave him stronger drinks than he wanted, as he was driving, might face a police investigation...

I never drink anything when I'm driving, even if it's not going to push me over the legal limit. It's just easier that way.
