At last! a balanced paper! well done all at Shropshire Star- first we have the football club and the fact that it was the Tory led Borough Council who held up the community pitches by their dodgy cash offer, and then the short fall(£25 million) in funds at the Council to carry out its projects.
Then we have the Star's Editorial column saying that it is all to do with the excessive secrecy the local Conservatives have wrapped our council in.
I couldn't agree more-since they took over in 2002 the Tories have been doing all sorts of deals behind closed doors that ordinary council tax payers never hear about-now thanks to the Star their cover is blown.
What makes it even worse is that the Tories are incompetent with it. Right next to the Star's article on the Borough's cash crisis, putting at risk their grand Darwin Experience plans with major improvements to the River Severn, is a piece on the imminent flooding of that River. Can't these clowns see what an utter waste of money it will be to dredge a navigation channel in the River, and put up landing stages, just to see the flooded river silt it all up and wash the structures away!
You will find that councils up and down the length of this country, run by all sorts of parties and coalitions, cock up royally because of politics and political pressure. If we had a Labour or Lib Dem controlled council things wouldn't be any different.
Very true. Add in political point-scoring and high egos. Machiavelli would be out of his depth on some councils.
