A planning application has been submitted for the (partial) redevelopment of Princess House, on the High Street end.

Those vertical grey concrete pillars on the car park at the first floor have to be the most disgraceful blot on the townscape - right next to the fine Market Hall. Have you ever sat in the (these days rather tatty) Costa Coffee shop and looked out at Princess House - it's quite depressing.
How could anyone EVER have thought that was a good design? I know we did some mad things in those decades, but can you conceive of someone looking up at that, at any time from the day it was built, and saying anything positive about it?
The planners should snap their hands off and shove a bundle of cash in their pockets to make sure they go ahead with it.
I'm sure the planning officers will recommend it for approval, but it is the councillors sitting on the planning/development control committees that have the final say.
