Title: Liberated Pubs
Will - November 28, 2006 11:28 AM (GMT)
Does anyone know if there are any easy going pubs/clubs in Shrews who wouldn't be terrified if a tranny were to turn up? (I be the afore mentioned tranny)
Thanks
Will

Not sure my friend can't think of any off the top of my head, i am sure C21 and the peach tree wouldn't mind. So are you a transexual or a transvestite?

I'm a transvestite... and a bit bored with dressing up at home and pottering around the house, I'd quite like to find somewhere where I can go out for a change :-)
Thanks for the pubs neptunehealer, I'll check them out!

Hi Will,
If you do hit C21 (AbbeyForegate) in your funky getup and heels.... make sure you do it on a Monday night.... It is a themed night called Roxy's catering for the more unusual party animal. It is largely gay(which you may not be) but it seems to be a relaxed fun, openminded night. Maybe check it out in your day clothes the first time incase I've got this all wrong.

Hi Ant,
Sounds good to me, I quite like gay nights at pubs (although I'm not actually gay) they can be quite a laugh. There was a gay pub in Brighton (where I used to live) in which the landlord wore a big pink frilly shirt and carried a pink poodle. It was such a stereotype I had to laugh!
I'll probably do that Ant, might be a good place to make a few mates too (just moved to Shrews a little while ago with my gf and finding it difficult to make friends here).

Hi Will,
I hope you're more convincing than Shrewsbury's answer to Emily Howard, mate . I won't name 'her' on here but if I was to say the words - Julia Roberts and 12 o clock shadow - maybe some people might know who I'm on about. :)

 I'm a lady!
Blimey, Shrewsbury already has a tranny? And there was me hoping to be the only tranny in the village! :)
That sounds slightly ominious that (s)he is so famous that other people would know him/her.
I'm not sure if I'm convincing, I don't take myself particularly seriously tbh. That's not to say I don't occassionally do all the bits (with the makeup, shaved legs etc..), but I still sometimes have a laugh at myself in the mirror when I look ridiculous :)

There are at least two full time transvestites in Shrews that I know of. One works in the Private Shop on the English Bridge and she used to be a policeman. She's quite famous around these parts for sueing the police and winning. I'm sure she wouldn't object to being mentioned on here as she's very personable.
Sounds like you have a good outlook on life. I'm sure we all take ourselves a bit too seriously most of the time!
Hope you settle into Shrewsbury nicely and have a good life here.

Thanks very much :) , so far I'm very fond of the town. Very pretty and the people are much more friendly than the towns and citys I've lived in before.
I'm only a part-timer tranny, but nice to hear that people can be without getting beaten with sticks at every turn :). I was initially apprehensive that Shrews might have been a little conservative, but finding out that it has a gay pub or two.. and a few different kinds of people is reassuring.
Something quite surprising is that many people seem to know each other around the town. Coming from Birmingham (where I lived for 5 years - I'm originally from Bedford) where no one knows anyone else that's quite bizarre for me.

Now we're expanding into the telly market by calling ourselves TV's. It's an electrical thing with us :-)

The two regular organised social events locally (in Shrewsbury and Dawley) are listed
here. Personally I don't like C21, but that's just cos I'm an antisocial old codger, not that there's anything wrong with the place. You could also try the Old Post Office and the Bellstone pubs, neither of which are oppressively chavvy, unlike some of the other pubs in town.

That's brilliant! Thanks very much Town Walls :)

Just noticed that the Shrewsbury social event is advertised for trans-ladies and their partners (male / female / other). Sorry, I'm a simple lad, cannot tell water from champagne, and all that, but what do they mean?
Will - December 11, 2006 10:17 AM (GMT)
Trans-ladies are the trannies in this story...
Partners (male) = For the gay/bi tranny
Partners (female) = For the straight one
Partners (other) = For the not quite sure (I'm guessing other TV's or people who have yet to check their downstairs parts for confirmation).
Most TV people are actually straight, with a larger wardrobe variety. :)
