Title: New Shrewsbury Theatre Plan Gets Approval

Chris Pritchard - September 28, 2004 05:49 PM (GMT)
Shrewsbury's controversial £28million new theatre complex has been given the go-ahead and work could start late next year with a completion date as early as Christmas 2007.

Provided the project wins planning permission, work on the Frankwell development is expected to be able to begin next October, with completion scheduled for October 2007.

Although the Music Hall is a nice venue with character, I hope that a new theatre will bring larger acts to the town.

where exactly is this going to be built?

will what is left of the original Welsh bridge be lost?

The new theatre will be built on the land between the Welsh Bridge and the new Guildhall, nicely behind those flood defences. I'm not sure about what will happen to the last remaining arch of the St Georges Bridge but I guess it will be conserved somehow. :)
