Work will begin on the Theatre Severn development on the 31st October...
http://www.shropshirestar.co.uk/2006/10/%c...-new-town-venueFrankwell will be a changed place after this. <_< Hope they keep to the simple pastel colours - they're better than the original design of about 2 years ago.

Thanks for the link.
Doesn't look too bad. Still amazed how they can squeeze in two auditoriums, etc in such a small area.

It looks very impressive and is well needed, no offence to the Music hall here but it will promote the arts and its site is definately suited for this

Yup and the Music Hall will make a great heritage/visitor centre ("a museum" in old money).

Interesting pics. The old chapel (thank goodness we haven't lost that treasure <_< ) makes you think of say having a new kitchen but keeping that clapped out old cupboard in the middle.
I know the civic society are extremely annoyed that it was said at the committee meeting they supported this building when in actual fact they did not.
I am really really glad I don't live in Frankwell anymore, context is so really, really important . The constraints of this site plus the attractive townscape to be lost are why it should NOT be put there IMHO. Yes, to a theatre, yes, to a contemporary design but no to squashed into an important part of the town that will not accommodate a such a massive structure.

Where in Shrewsbury would you have built the new theatre?
