Title: The Greed Of Banks

gromit - October 20, 2006 07:14 PM (GMT)
Hello i had a new maesto card sent to me and when i tried to use it would accept the old pin, i forgot that they would as a matter of course they would send me a new pin.

Anyway i went to the HSBC, high st, shrewsbury and explained the situation when it was my turn to see someone.

When i explained i needed to withdraw some money the sales patter started from the member of staff telling me i could upgrade my account i listened patiently then my ers pricked up when she said there would be a charge of £7.99p per month, free for the first six months.

I quickly realised she was trying (not her fault only what she is told to do by her superiors) to make more profit for the bank.

I politely declined went to the cashier with the withdrawal slip and left feeling more cynical about the greed of banks.

Any comments would be welcome.

Thanks.

Banks will try to make a profit. They are businesses.

I think people need to be wise to their tactics. I think most banks are responsible for the massive debt record in this country. They need suing!

If anybody wants to reclaim bank charges for exceeding overdrafts, unpaid direct debits etc, which are probably illegal, check out this site.
