Anyway, back to these preachers, they do seem to always have a good 4-5m radius around them where no one walks!

Typing in CAPS is really bad form... frowned upon since the inception of the internet. It is the web equivalent to shouting (ironic really as this is what you are complaining about in your post) and the best way to get anything serious you have to say discounted.
In direct reference to your post, I think that the people to whom you refer are members of the Plymouth Brethren. I believe that their religion dictates that they spread the word.
They don't personally cause me any offence. Most people are only passing through on Pride Hill so unless folk stop to listen, then it shouldn't be much of an annoyance.
