Title: Fridge Freezer Collection

Ant SPCS - October 16, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
Hi.

I know that the council will collect old fridge freezers from your door for safe disposal. The SABC website says there is a small fee. Does anyone know how much it costs?

Cheers,

Anthony

I believe it is about £ 15.00 though it could have changed since. If you can take it yourself (it will go in a Zafira) then it doesn't cost a penny.
Apparently there is a fridge mountain somewhere, I suppose it could replace the melting ice caps!! Only if you switch them on !!!

Thanks, I'll probably get them to come and collect it (cheaper than buying a Zafira!).

£15 seems pretty resonable considering the thing weighs quite a lot and is a pain to move.

It costs £15 for the first item and £12 for other items being collected at the same time although it might be worth waiting for the scrap metal people to come around as they will take the fridge off you for free saving you money.

they were around by us twice last week.

Update! (Like my fridge freezer disposal problem is of interest to anyone :P )

My new fridge freezer finally arrived so I called the council to see about collection of the old one. The price of collection is now £16 for the first item (seems very resonable to me).

Unfortunately, they only offer this service on Mondays and subsequently it gets booked up quickly... I took the next available booking which is for 5 weeks from now.

I wish I'd hung on to my big Pug 406 estate... I've got the saloon now and it's no good for this sort of thing.
