I'm sure the King's Head on Mardol was called the Last Inn, or something similar, back in the day when the Old Welsh Bridge was up. This of course was over 200 years ago...

correct.
the name was changed in about 1820 when a "King's Head" at Roushill closed.

The Criterion is Bailey's Bar (named after the owner i was told).
Th Welsh Harp was knocked down a few years ago. The Bicton Heath CoOp and some other shops are there now.

yes the Criterion became Ebeneezer's then the Black Bull in Paradise(the owner wanted a bit of Blackpool in paradise- hence the name) and now Bailey's after the owner Paul Bailey.
The Welsh Harp that you refer to was knocked down and replaced, the newer building is the same building that the co-op has been built into.
but the Welsh Harp I meant became the Britania Hotel and when Henri Quin took over he renamed it the Shrewsbury Hotel.
