Title: The Shrewsbury Conference

Chris Pritchard - September 13, 2004 07:05 PM (GMT)
For the fifth year running Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council will be holding The Shrewsbury Conference giving a chance for local people to air their views.

Peter Nutting, leader of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council says:

"The Shrewsbury Conference is an effective way of getting your views across to the council. We will also be taking a look at what the council has been up to during the year and what our future plans are. People who come to the event really do have an opportunity to influence the way the council tackles big issues, come and have your say and shape the debate."

Some of the issues people might want to raise:
- Council priorities
- Tourism (changes to the Tourism Information Centre)
- Modernising Public Amenities
- Concessionary travel arrangements
- Development of new Housing (where should new housing go?)
- New Theatre
- Changes to Rowley’s House
- Town Centre Car Parking
- Review of CCTV
- New planning framework

The event is free but advance booking is essential as the Conference is very popular. For a free ticket to either venue, please contact the Box Office at the Music Hall on 01743 281281.

If you have issues to raise but you are unable to attend or you would like to submit a question in advance please e-mail: conference@shrewsbury.gov.uk or complete one of our question cards which will be available at the Music Hall and Council offices.

I have been to one of these, but I got the impression that the council held it to share their views and not actually take on board ours.

I have not been before but I supose running Shrewsbury Guide and this forum it would be in my interest to go!

I'll see if I can get some tickets.
