it's a bit quite on the duck front at the moment, all 4 tuftys are still doing well and ther are nearly 50 wild ducks waiting to be fed, next time that any of you are in Clunshire, please put any spare change in the food fund tin(it's on the post office counter but I am sure that you all knew that)

I did venture into Clunshire recently... but didn't get as far as Clun.

Went to Clungunford, Broome and Hopton Heath. Had lunch/beer at the Engine and Tender and tea/scones at the Bird on the Rock.

And it didn't rain!!

No, but I did hear one of the guys there talking about selling up and moving on. Apparantly costs of running the place have soared.

I've been in 'Clunshire' for the last 2 weekends, although not really round Clun, so I didn't have any close encounters with ducks. Lots of apples, plums, damsons, hazelnuts, sloes, etc. about to fall off the trees! It's a superb place to have a scrump.

The building by the river, the one that houses the post office and tearooms, is up for sale, so this might affect the ducks somewhat. Maybe caring for the ducks is written into the deeds. :)

Someone from Shrewsbury reminded me of this, when I was asking about Clun:

Clunton and Clunbury
Clungunford and Clun
Are the quietest places
Under the sun

(AE Housman - I posted the full poem in General Chat)

I should imagine that quite a few more rural post offices will be up for sale. The government keep corroding their business bit by bit.

I'm eagerly awaiting October's update. How are the ducks coping with the shorter days? Has it been good weather for ducks?
