Title: England Flags

Its that time again the World Cup, when houses across the country display the England flag.

Peterborough City Council last year took one resident to court as they did not have consent to fly the St. George's Cross flag.

I couldn't imagine this incident ever happening in the USA somehow. Surely there's alot more important issues for these councils to concern themselves with.Thankfully we've never had this problem in Shrewsbury.

I've heard stories that many of these England flags are manufactured in Chinese sweat shops -wonder if that's true? Not very patriotic or fair if it's the case .

Sadly I've also heard the same.

When you see how cheap they ar ein the shops like many other items these days then it makes you think that the stories must be true.

Please don't accuse me of being unpatriotic, but World Cup displays in shops, pubs and on cars all seem to be going up far too early.

It's like having Christmas displays up in September. By the time that December 25th arrives, I'm so fed up of listening to Noddy Holder clearing his throat every time that I walk into a shop that I can't wait to get away from it all!

Urgent newsflash from the DVLA

"In order to assist other motorists in identifying potential dangerous drivers, it is now compulsory for anyone with a lower than average IQ and driving ability to display a warning flag.

The flag, (comprising of a red cross on a white background), will be attached to the top of at least one door of their vehicle.

For drivers of exceptionally low mental ability, additional flags are required."

Hahahaha! Brilliant! And so true... I have a car, but I would never attach anything to it that wasn't necessary for the thing to go forwards (and, sometimes, backwards)...

Following the DVLA announcment, local government leaders have issued a press release saying that it is now mandatory for said people affected by the DVLA ruling to also display the flags on any other location where they may be present including but not limited to their homes, pubs, sporting stadiums and the public arena in the whole.

A simple solution has been suggested that the aforementioned affected people should wear shirts and tops carrying the flag design so that they are easily identifed when on foot or outside of their vehicles.

A govenment subsidy is available for those unable to afford such flags which can be obtained from the local job centre or DHSS centre.

Failiure to display said flags will result in non fixed penalties including but not limited to the removal of "sky sports subscription" and / or "beer seekers allowance."

It seems to me that many people are following guidelines and displaying the identifying flags on their cars, homes, caravans and have taken to the suggestion of wearing clothing displaying the flag also in an attempt to avoid any incident that may lead to the removal of their "sky sports subscription" and / or "beer seekers allowance."

I am often critical of certain members of the population but I must give praise to them in this instance for quickly and effectly following the guidlines laid down by the DVLA and local leaders.

Its with great sadness that I announce an England flag has lost its owner, its currently in the gutter outside my house on the Whitchurch Road.

I don't think I can bring myself to go out and pick it up, but I can't go on looking at it in such a sorry state for much longer.

Oh what a dilemma :o

Its been rescued....

I dont know, Chris. It looks a bit new to have been lying around in the gutter.

Please dont tell me you have one on your car as well :-(

The idea seems to be growing. I found this on the internet as part of the "wear your ignorance with pride" campaign.

Patriotic drivers showing their support for England with window flags during the World Cup will pay more in fuel costs, an academic has claimed.

That's obvious though - you don't need to be an academic to work that out - anything attached to a car on the outside, usually a roof rack, will increase drag and therefore increase fuel consumption.
