Title: Our Hobbies
Redsquirrel - May 10, 2006 06:55 PM (GMT)
Ok time to get a bit personal -What kind of hobbies and pastimes are other forum members into?
I'm fond of walking -especially local routes -Stretton hills, Haughmond etc. Readng - mainly biographies and history and crime.
Fishing - this is one I've revived recently. I'd almost forgotten how good it is.
Funny how things change - 10 years ago I'd have listed running, gym and nightclubs as my top 3 :D

I'm into walking as well, I've done the Source of the Severn and Brown Clee Hill with David (Proud Salopian on this forum) since I went to Uni. However my main hobby is Snooker, I'm on the committee of my Uni Snooker club. I'm also into Billiards in a similar sort of way. I also like reading maps, studying rocks, playing cards and listening to (decent) music, attending concerts where possible.

You're also a keen photographer Neil!! How many thousands, if not millions, of photographs have you taken with that digital camera of yours? :D
Is anyone here a player of the computer games series Civilization?

I suppose I would class my hobbies as running both Shrewsbury Guide and Shrewsbury Forum but I'm also interested in the weather, astronomy and gardening.
I'm looking forward to the end of June as I leave my current job to go freelance. I'm planning on a two month break as I don't think I will get this opportunity for taking so much time off again.
During this time I plan on taking in more of our Shropshire scenery and investigating those places I've always though of visiting but never have done.
Past hobbies included CB Radio back in the early 90's, amateur radio again early 90's and my interest in model railways many years ago.

Hi there new too these forums. I would say my hobbies were online gaming and reading most forms of fiction. :)

So far I've been to the following:
Bridgnorth (Castle Hill Cliff Railway, Severn Valley Railway)
All the Ironbridge Gorge's villages/museums
Ludlow Castle
Attingham Park, Atcham
The Stiperstones/Snailbeach
Much Wenlock (Priory, other historic buildings)
Wroxeter (Roman City, Vinyard)
I've presented on the radio across the Wyre Forest and from outside the Telford Steam Railway does that count? :P
My planned two month break has gone, I'm now starting my new project straight after I leave my current job next Thursday, its all fun..

Proud Salopian - June 6, 2006 08:37 AM (GMT)
Well done! I haven't been to a couple of those, though I may do a few more visits to places this summer - need to go to Mitchell's Fold, a few more Ironbridge Gorge places, the Telford Steam Railway and the new heritage railway at Llynclys (the Cambrian Railway Trust's one).
Proud Salopian - June 6, 2006 08:39 AM (GMT)
Oh and rather oddly, despite having gone to Bridgnorth a few times and on the Severn Valley Railway once, I've never actually travelled on the Cliff Railway there! Must pencil that one into my diary too...

Besides planning our trip to the UK next summer, my hobbies are running, horses, sports, and deciding how to invest my retirement funds...make money one day and lose it the next!
