Title: Favourable Areas

polarbear - July 1, 2004 03:34 PM (GMT)
Hi all

I'm new to this forum and wondered if anyone can assist me, please? My partner and I have decided that Shrewsbury is the place for us and we are very much looking forward to relocating there soon.

We are beginning to view properties to buy but we are unsure which areas of Shrewsbury could be considered 'favourable' to a young family.

Hi polarbear,

A few questions that may help me or others to recommend a favourable location for you:

- Do you have children of school age?
- If relevant how many cars do you have (some areas have parking problems like Castlefields)?
- Are you looking for older or new properties?
- What area's have you looked at and/or liked so far?

If you have not already done so take a look at our local business listings for all Shrewsbury Estate Agents with on-line listings. Unfortunately though they are not always as upto date as they should be as I found out recently.

Chris.

Shrewsbury has a wide diversity of suburbs and I can give you some examples based on property prices and what the area is like:

Most expensive: Kingsland/Porthill area of town, where Shrewsbury School is located. It's near to the town centre and yet is a very green part of Shrewsbury.

Middle ground: 1 Sutton Farm is a suburb on the edge of town to the South. It's near to good transport links (A49/A5) and has also got a good primary school and junior school. 2 Belle Vue is a victorian area very near to the town centre and has quite a great range of properties, from flats to terraces to grand houses. 3 Sundorne is to the North of the town and is another green suburb, with a large recreational area and is also near to the river (but doesn't flood).

Least expensive: 1 Harlescott is near to Sundorne to the North of the town and is close to large employment sites such as Battlefield Enterprise Park and Harlescott Industrial Estate. 2 Castlefields is also North of the town centre and is only a few minutes walk to the train station and bus station, which can be pretty handy, and the area has also recently had a building boom so there are some new properties to look at too.

Really, there are too many districts of Shrewsbury to mention - but I'm sure where ever you decide to live, you will enjoy the magnificant town centre! :)
