Does Shrewsbury need a good Spanish Tapas bar? Please, let me know what all of you think about this.

I'd welcome a Tapas restaurant.

Hi Ant
I would also like to see a noodle bar in town, one sees them in the cities but never in the smaller towns.

Bar Frank does tapas as does Bar Med (during the day at least) but yes I would like to see a fully fledged Spanish restaurant in the town, we've got about a dozen Italians (if you count Ask, pizza express etc) so surely there would be enough demand for one Spanish to suceed. It would certainly add to the culinary variety of the town.

@avronb, a noodle bar would be nice too, how about writing to wagamama to start a campaign to get a branch in Shrewsbury!

please pardon my ignorance but who or what is wagamama?

There was that Mexican restaurant at the back of the Pride Hill centre for a while but it closed down (presumably due to lack of custom). Mexican restaurants in this country tend to be quite pricey i've noticed. I don't see why though, the food they serve should be quite cheap to make, should be similar in price to a standard Indian.

Hola cañasytapas. ¿Eres español(a)? Me gustaría conocer a gente española en Shrewsbury. Soy titulado en el idioma, pero me falta la practica.

Being a fan of everything spanish, i would love to see a proper Spanish tapas bar in Shrewsbury (with Spanish prices please)

I used to live in Navarra (Northern Spain) where they specialize in wonderful food. there are also many vineyards that produce some fantastic wines at competative prices. I was considering importing food wine from this region but is there a market for it here? You see the odd bottle of Rioja in this country but little more. Any idea why?

You'll never get Spanish prices when businesses have to pay British wages, rents and rates. It'd be nice though!

More to the point, you'll never get Spanish tapas prices when every High Street has multiple branches of McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc etc
