Title: ‘wing Chun Kuen’ In Shrewsbury’
Description: An internal/external self-defence system

wingchun - February 3, 2006 11:38 AM (GMT)
Hi there!

Should you wish to embark on a fresh and challenging health /fitness activity during 2006 and beyond, you may consider the following discipline within a long established and welcoming association: WCDKA Wing Chun Kuen is a southern Chinese self-defence system thought to have been originally devised by a woman. In a nutshell, anyone would be able to participate in this challenging activity which is also an internal branch of learning incorporating active meditation, sound practical and conceptual philosophy - realistic techniques to use ONLY as a last result.

There exists a private (closed door) studio in Shrewsbury town centre were you would be able to receive one-on-one tuition with your own personal trainer.

Additional detailed information and how to apply may be obtained at http://www.wingchunkuen.org.uk

I trust you will find the above information useful.

This is something thats interested me, i've done judo befor and i would like to do something else on top of that, is there a demo day which i can attend to view how it works?

Thank you for your reply; we don't actually do demos per se in order to attract prospective students. However, seriously interested parties may initially attend our main stream class in Stourbridge to see Wing Chun Kung Fu training in action. There exist a short video clip which fundamentally highlights the combat side of the system at http://www.wingchunkuen.org.uk/defence.html it will download automatically and no special plugins/downloads are needed.

One must nevertheless emphasise that this kind of confrontation would be used as a last result and it will take some time for a practitioner to deploy. We are more concerned about the safety of our members than looking flamboyant.

Although the essence of Wing Chun Kuen martial arts system is fundamentally to deal with the brutal realities of an extreme physical confrontation, it continues to offer many additional rewards apart from its effective combat element. Sadly, very few people are aware of the potential health and fitness benefits of an activity such as Wing Chun Kuen, and indeed not very many individuals are concerned with personal safely until something drastic does happen which is often too late. It’s not just about the skill to be able to fight: increased self awareness and the ability to not underestimate others can literally save one’s life - It’s smart to be prepared! We personally would not recommend cross training with other martial arts whilst learning Wing Chun Kung Fu, although general fitness would complement it...

well I'm looking to practice Kung Fu and i live in Shrewsbury. However, i cannot afford to have private tuition and the only other alternative I could find was a "Brian Nelson"s kung fu and kickboxing class, but this over-runs with the other martial arts i practice; Jujitsu and a small amount of Systema. So i don't suppose you can think of any alternatives available can you?

Also, why don't you recommend practicing other martial arts with your Kung Fu?

Thanks
