Firefox is a free and easy to use web browser that's also secure and easy to upgrade...
http://www.getfirefox.comI've been using it for about a year now and it's great! The latest version, 1.5, is out now.

I'm sure there might be something better out there, but my son told my wife and I about Firefox almost two years ago. We use it on all our computers. No popups!

B) Actually, when it comes to web browsers, no, Mark, there isn't anything better than Mozilla Firefox. If you don't have, and you want to try it, just to to their website and download it. You'll find that you WILL NOT have a pop up being shoved in your face every time you open a web page. The basic browser is free, which I imagine the kid who built the browser regrets. He was fourteen at the time. The four computer pros in our family all recommend it.

i'm using it now, but i do have to say that it will not pick up all the details on the page you are veing and i seem to have a shed load of viruses on my pc since i started using it, i think i might be going back to IE.

That's very odd - Firefox actually is better when it comes to preventing viruses and trojans... and the web loads fine with mine.

If you're getting viruses, they are NOT coming from Firefox. Those don't come over the net. You get them through you're email. You need to get a good viurs protection program. Norton is one of the better recommended ones. As for some details not loading on certain pages, that's because Firefox is designed to keep out certain things. And if it detects something in one of those details that it has in common with pop ups and other things Firefox is supposed to keep out, it will not load them. However, if you will note at the top of your page, when there are things that were not loaded on the page, there is usually a bar that you can click on and it will then allow the details to download. But I wouldn't risk it. You could be letting in pop ups that will leave cookies on your computer (yes, there are cookies that let companies track who visits their sites) and keeping those out is one of the biggest reasons Firefox is so highly recommended. Of course, I keep my setting options to dump cookies and temporary internet files whenever I end a session.
Back to those viruses, get an anit virus protection program. If you'r'e getting a lot of spam, that's where the viruses are coming from. We use more than one account. One is just o use to fill out forms that might be shared with spammers. Only friends and family get the regular email account address.
Sorry if this is TMI.
