Title: Energy Saving Week

Chris Pritchard - October 24, 2005 08:04 PM (GMT)
This week is the ninth annual Energy Saving Week.

A nation-wide initiative, Energy Saving Week, aims to raise awareness of the damaging effects of climate change. This year sees the start of ‘Save YOUR 20%’ campaign. The idea being if every individual in the UK takes simple steps to reduce their energy use by 20% such as walking to work instead of driving for one day a week, then this can make a real difference to how rapidly and severely the worlds climate changes.

‘Save YOUR 20%’ will feature heavily in national TV and press advertisements. Locally Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council, Shropshire County Council, Shropshire Energy Advice Centre and Marches Energy Agency will be raising awareness of the pressing need to rationalise our energy consumption.

Promotions are being organised, urging people to take advantage of grants and discounts available on energy saving appliances and products.

Look out for an information stand in the Pride Hill Shopping centre in Shrewsbury on Thursday 27th October. If you want advice on how you can play your part in saving your 20% please contact Shropshire Energy Advice Centre on free phone 0800 512012.
