I use several 'Noticeboards' and wonder in the case of British people being able to show Patriotism are censored unfairly by The British Broadcasting Corporation. As a corporation this question has been asked before by politicians when the BBC refused to print some reasonable unbiased comments on threads and in other news items on contensious issues. This worries me as they are a voice to the world through the media of radio and general broadcasting
What are you trying to say? That the BBC censor patriotic Britons? If so, you're right to some degree I suppose - they try to be so unbiased on everything that sometimes national pride is stamped on. Especially on their website. Saying that, on the day when we won the 2012 Olympics they did let go...
But do we have national pride, our soceity is so multi cultural. I am proud of my country and concerned national pride may be lost. Companies like the BBC dare'nt promote /national pride in fear of being called racist or bias to other nationalities. Is this fair as it is our country. Arab states broadcasting are much more partiotic in their reporting. I think truly we need some support and reassurance from the media. Take the best selling newspaper for the UK, I think their feelings are spot on !
I'm a patriotic person and I know many people who are too, though I agree that there is a growing anti-Britishness attitude in Britain these days. Immigration in the short term leads to a multi-cultural and less nationalistic feel to the country, but in the long term the different faiths and cultures will be assimilated into British culture. Second generation immigrants, who are born in the UK and have only British citizenship are increasingly British. Hopefully soon ethnic minorities will move out of the inner cities and mix more with other areas in Britain. I feel that integration is very important.
Just look at that young British Asian boxer, Mr Khan (what's his first name?), who is very patriotic (and so are his family). I remember at the olympics in Athens his father wearing a union jack! It just shows that British pride can be passed on to new comers to these Isles and hopefully national successes like winning the 2012 Olympics will boost patriotic pride amongst Britons as a whole.
So cheer up! ;)
