Is this a riddle?
Sorry after googling it I see what you mean. Very clear pictures of Shrewsbury town. Roll on summer!

Glad you found it! Incredible feat if you ask me. Apparently over 280000 miles of UK road covered in the end.

Won't need to leave the house now... ;)

I didn't really need to be reminded how big my backside is!

Have you found yourself? That's quite impressive! If I knew the date of when the photos were taken (or the week or whenever) I could possibly seek myself out.

That's quite impressive!
Are you refering to my posterior David?
Actually me and the other half were taking a little stroll privately so we thought in our garden when the invasive camera topped van must have sidled past up our street.

You must have forgotten we had seen the offending vehicles almost a year ago.
It is quite clear that the pictures are taken on different days when you move along the road and shops that were shut are suddenly open with goods outside. It is nice that we are enjoying the beautiful Spring weather which makes the town look very attractive but the downside is the trees are bare and so the camera is more intrusive.
I have a friend in the countryside who has a high hedge along the roadside of her property but the height of the camera gives a great view into her garden which I am pretty certain she will not be at all happy about. <_<

I'm sure it was around mid April last year. We were refurbing the shop and the skip is still round the back. Good to see the 'explosion' building prior to the incident. Almost forgot what it looked like.

I would say it was mapped at two different times of the year, if you travel from town walls on it look into the quarry the leaves are not on the trees. Yet when you follow the route down claremont bank and into the quarry fitness centre car park everthing is lush and the trees have leaves

The main Google Maps website is at
http://maps.google.com/.
Shrewsbury is at
this link. Zoom in using your mouse and/or the + and - symbols, then drag the yellow man on the top left of the map (the 'pegman') to the roads that you want to look at.
For example,
here is the link for Shrewsbury railway station.
Most of the UK is now covered (you can even go over the bridge to Skye) as well as lots of Europe (although not Germany) and of course the USA. There's a Google Street View trainspotting thread at
the Rail UK forums and a
Times article of bizarre sights.

Fantastic, thanks for that link, faster than Goggle earth own site. Just a done a trip to town without getting up! :o
lemon squeezer - March 23, 2010 04:01 PM (GMT)
Clearly Dez and Ali Quarréll from Mythstories striding up Pride Hill from the railway station!
What if you saw a loved one who had been caught on camera a year ago and since died? It would be quite upsetting really.

Town Walls, that 'bunker' was Headquarters 16 Group Royal Observer Corps, most of it is above ground, just really thick walls. M.O.D spent 100s thosands extending it with new kitchen and meeting rooms then the cold war finished.

Yes, I saw it on
Subbrit, although it didn't register that it was mostly surface only. It looks like the date of the building works was 1989, with the facility subsequently closing in 1992. Hope we won't need it again! :ph43r:

I think its brilliant...I went all across the North Wales coast the other day...Its like going on a day trip without the expense! :-)

Looking for Shrewsburys around the world
Shrewsbury, MissouriShrewsbury, KentuckyShrewsbury, Massachusetts (Home of the
Shropshire Curiosity Shop)
Shrewsbury, LouisianaShrewsbury, New JerseyShrewsbury, Vermont. A peaceful place. Wikipedia notes "The town has a very low crime rate, with only occasional cases of vandalism or burglary. There has not been a murder in Shrewsbury since April 18, 2009."
Shrewsbury, West VirginiaShrewsbury, Pennsylvania (1 of the 3 Shrewsburys in Pennsylvania)
Shrewsbury, Quebec (a ghost town)Shrewsbury, OntarioNo Street View of the Shrewsburys in Jamaica, yet!
lemon squeezer - March 27, 2010 09:08 PM (GMT)
Google claim that you cannot identify people, clearly wrong and the Shrewsbury Chronicle echo what google say about it being exactly what anyone can see walking down a street, clearly wrong too unless you are on horseback or about 7 to 8 foot tall ! <_<
Mark - March 29, 2010 02:31 AM (GMT)
I have passed through Shrewsbury, Missouri hundreds of times. It's a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Shrewsbury, Vermont has nothing to brag about. Wow, almost an entire year without a murder! Not bad for a town of over 1000 people!
Wellingtonian - March 30, 2010 03:06 PM (GMT)
That is great! And the pliers of God are wonderful!
Wonder if there's anything interesting in Wellington? ;)

Get your glasses at the ready, Google Street View has now gone 3D.
It's a good job I kept my glasses from the Channel four 3D week B)
