Hi everyone, hoping someone will be able to help me with a bit of advice.
I'm going to be moving to Shrewsbury in the near future and was looking to get a bit of advice about good areas to live in, schools, activities for my children ect.
I have a 10 year old son and a 7 year old daughter, so they would both be going to primary school. Did a quick search and there are a lot of schools to choose from. I'm moving from Ireland and things are a bit different over here in that you can pick whatever school you want for your children to go to, where as I was told that in England you have to live within a catchment area to be able to go to a certain school.
Where would you recommend that I look to live, and what schools to try and get my children into. I want to move somewhere that is a family area, lots of kids around for them to make friends and play with.
Also would there be any summer camp type of things around the area at all, that i could look into putting my kids into. Just a way for them to have some fun during the holidays and meet and play with other children.
Thanks for your help
Samantha
Hi, Samantha.
This link might help as regards schools
http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/schools.nsfThere have been some questions in the past on here about moving to Shrewsbury so it might be worth scrolling through previous postings.
Would you be looking to buy, or let?
There's a lot of interesting places to see in and around Shrewsbury, lots of decent shops, some locally owned. There's a good market, and a good, somewhat larger market in nearby Wellington.
There's the Ironbridge Gorge Museum, Theatre Severn, The Quarry gardens by the River Severn in Shrewsbury (home to Shrewsbury Flower Show) and the mountains and coast of Wales are only a short distance.
There are plenty of good schools in Shrewsbury. I would advise though steer clear of the mish-mash they call Telford. Shrewsbury is streets ahead of this place. The Shrewsbury county council run summer camp activities but there is a company called(clic on it)
PGL They do great outdoor activities for the kids
