Apparently razors are some of the most frequently stolen items from shops in Britain. Given how expensive these premium brands are, all with far too many blades, 'several hundred pounds worth' doesn't equate to very many.
Possibly the eight printer cartridges account for a lot of the value, and the article is just badly worded.
I'd like to think that he was planning to hawk them round some low-life pub, possibly concealed inside a large coat.
