Title: Free Satellite Tv
Description: Too good to be true ?

I have just discovered that for a one off payment of £20, I can cancel my existing Sky subscription of £19.99 per month for their basic package, and get all the Freeview channels + 200 or more Freesat channels as well.
Phoned Sky and they confirmed this.
Has anyone else got this ? I am seriously thinking about it.

That sounds great! What satellite receiver would we need for this? And what dish would work? At the moment we use Freeview but there are very few channels broadcasting and many of those only broadcast very limited schedules.

You can use your existing sky equipment, just cancel the sky subscription and ask to purchase a £20 free skysat viewing card. It's as easy as that. I phoned sky and they confirmed it.

Sky and Freesat share the same satellite so it is a cheaper option to change to freesat. Alternatively if you buy a new HDTVreceiver with a freesat tuner in it you can attach it to a sky satelitte dish and receive freesat free this way to. Freesat are already broadcasting BBC and ITV in high definition picture quality whereas terrestrial digital TV will start broadcasting high definition next year. Regarding the quantity of channels on digital now, this will alter in TV regions when the switchover has taken place. There will be a lot more channels available then.

We don't have a dish, and didn't want Sky, but we will seriously look at getting a dish next year, some time.
