1. Outside Shropshire Archives, off Castle Gates.

2. Taken from The Dana - the building is on the corner of Chester Street and Castle Foregate.

3. Shop on Wyle Cop - you are standing on the steps leading down from St Julian's Shut.

4. I know which part of town, but can't think exactly where!

5. No idea!

6. Claremont Place.

7. St Chad's Churchyard.

8. Not sure... could be either round the back of the Bingo Hall on Smithfield Road or maybe somewhere near Crewe Junction? Hmm!

9. Private lane leading from Union Wharf up to St Mary's Water Lane (goes round the Water Gate).

10. Rings a bell, but no..

5 Wesley House, Fish Street?

8 Roushill?

10 The Limes? Chronicle House? I don't know,tell me,tell me I neeeed to know!

Just 8 and 10 to go then! For 8, neither of PS's suggestions are particularly close. Think of the shuts, for both of them.

Ah! In that case 8 could well be down the alley adjacent to Castle Court, off Castle Street. And is 10 down The Slang (path by the Kingsland Bridge Approach)?

Number 4 is Council House Court off Castle Street. Still working on the others.

They are that difficult!

My guesses...

1. Steps and doorway off the 'Castle' section of the Dana
2. Water Lane, leading from New St to the river, seen from the other bank near the Armoury
3. Not sure - from the bit about 'whilst the gates are open' I think this is 'Wine Merchants' Passage' through Tanners
4. Already answered
5. There isn't that much graffiti around the town centre (apart from the Dana and of course all that oh-so-amusing chalking that has recently appeared). So, from the graffiti, and also the shape of the archway, I'm guessing that this is somewhere between Mardol and Roushill.

You're close with your answer to number 1 - the building in question is the Castle, but where abouts?

Yup Water Lane for number 2.

As for 3... good answer, but wrong I'm afraid. Think of another private shut/passage in the town centre.

Again, close with 5... the courtyard (which is private and currently being redeveloped) is off Mardol... I won't give more away!

As for your answer to number 6 - you've clearly been on Wikipedia and I claim my fiver!! :P

Well, my first thought was a structure I'd seen on Ben Nevis



but then I remembered that I'd seen such a building from the train, so yes, I did have a look on Wikipedia. Luckily, I found that that page for Coleham has had multiple edits from user 'dpaajones', whoever he (or indeed she) might be.

Congratulations anyway. I'll leave the fiver in a brown envelope in the middle of the Seventy Steps. Surely it'll be safe there?
