ah now my husband would disagree about the possiblity of snow.
apparently if it is freezing it is too cold for snow!!!
has to be just above freezing :D
Andy Cooke - November 30, 2008 06:07 PM (GMT)
It can't get too cold to snow here on Earth, but it can be too dry. Colder climates like the Arctic and Antarctic often get less snow than warmer climates at lower latitudes, but that's because of the relative differences in atmospheric moisture, not temperature

Its still blumin cold...... :D

Well its Groundhog Day today and it seems little Phil has predicted another six weeks of winter :)

Bad sandstorm here in the desert yesterday. We had 40-50 mph winds for about two hours. Still, it was near 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
We just spent a week in Maine with about two feet of snow on the ground, and it broke freezing once. We are moving there in mid-March. 2700 miles away....but after 18 years of shift work, it will be nice to be home every evening. We will be living near the easternmost point in the U.S. At least we will be closer to you guys.

Sorry if this a bit late but congratulations on your new job, post, situation. One heck of a difference between Maine and Arizona, from frying pan to fridge

Thanks. Actually it's west Texas, which is about the same as the desert in Arizona. It will be great not having to drive nearly 100 miles to the hospital, chiropractor, doctor, and pharmacy. :D

And it was freezing last night, too! :D

Movers arrive Thursday (they pack everything!).....Friday they load the truck...and Sunday starts our nine day trip to Maine. They are giving us that time to drive 2700 miles, although we are going a little out of our way to take the scenic route and see some relatives.
It'll be hard leaving the desert after twelve years. I wish we could take a lot of the people up there with us, including our son. However, he has a good job and home here.
Time for a new adventure!

Good luck with your move and your new adventure!
By the way... There is a Shrewsbury in America. Don't think it is anywhere near Maine, though!
Aha! Just checked. It's not all that far! It's in Vermont! :D

thanks! i've been to your Shrewsbury twice in 1978 with my grandfather and in 2007 with my wife. My grandfather grew up near there and his brother lived most of his life there...which is probably the reason I am on this forum. I have no living relatives left in Shrewsbury. There is also a Shrewsbury in Missouri that I know of.

whats the weather like, bet it feels tiny compared with west Texas :)

Back in TX it was in the 80s today. When we arrived this morning in Maine, it was 15. We still can't see our yard here. We have two acres surrounded by woods except for the highway on one side. We have walkways, flower beds, and fruit trees. That is, we are supposed to have them. The above ground swimming pool could double as a skating rink. We probably still have one to two feet of snow on the ground. It's supposed to warm up into the 40s for the rest of the week, but there is still a chance for a snow flurry or two in the morning tomorrow. Ten days on the road....and 3300 miles later, we are finally home.
