Title: Regular Members

avronb - August 2, 2008 04:42 PM (GMT)
Why have these forums dried up of late?i always used to go on straight away when starting my computer, but for the last few weeks no one seems to have anything to say so i just dont bother checking it now.The 'regular'few ie.P.Salopian,Codger,Red Sq.etc.and even Mark in the US seem to have given up.

Proud Salopian - August 2, 2008 06:21 PM (GMT)
Well, I chip in now and again.

Mark - August 3, 2008 06:00 AM (GMT)
I am on a couple of forums and haven't done much on those either. I posted on this forum a couple of weeks ago, mainly because I hadn't seen a new post in almost a week. I worked six overtime shifts in eight days. The money was nice but didn't have time for much of anything else. I still check the forum everyday.

the old codger - August 3, 2008 04:45 PM (GMT)
Still lurking around but been busy of late.

Redsquirrel - August 3, 2008 08:39 PM (GMT)
Maybe it's just one of those phases. I reckon things on the forum will pick up again when the weather worsens and the nights start to draw in. :D

I've been ultra-busy lately but I still do drop by for a peek now and then.

Chris Pritchard - August 4, 2008 06:22 PM (GMT)
As with the rest of you guys I have been busy too with work and other stuff.

I guess when the nights start to draw in things will pick up again. This forum has been going since 3rd September 2003 its had it busy and quiet times.

I'll start and make a few more posts, if I get chance towards the end of the week I'll send out an e-mail reminding members we are still here.

The net has become far more interactive and quite honestly posters get sick of trying to post on a forum if they get a poor response when on other forums there is a very good response to the same subject if you know what I mean! Its a bit like trying to start a conversation in a monastery sometimes on here. I think the regular bunch are here but perhaps posts need to be a bit more topical.

I stopped reading this forum due to being fed up with all the pro-white lobbying that occurs from time to time.

At times it seemed more like a bnp forum than a Shrewsbury one.

I am sure that some of you will think "good riddance" and call me me a liberal but you did ask.

Ya flippin liberal :P

Poltics inevitably crops up on all forums. Just as long as all sides get a fair hearing and debates remain cilivilized - I can't see the problem.

Not sure if you read other forums s.g.d.TheShrewsbury Forum is tame in comparison with others on the internet. Personally I think its a great way to get consensus about different topics in our county and generally. Freedom of speech is alive and well in Shropshire still.

I can endorse Andy's post. Postings on some forums can range from juvenile to rude and even threatening. Some seem to have a clique where outsiders are ignored or those of differing opinions are abused. This one has a good mix of opinion from people who might hold different political views but at least we are polite about it. For the record, I suppose that I am a liberal leftie but starting to move to right of centre in my dotage!

The older you get the more less able you are to swing in any direction.

I thought it was just me! I couldn't agree more. There was a thread earlier in the year where everyone who previously seemed so normal suddenly made comments that scared me well away. Nothing wrong with debating, but debating with a far right group isn't my cup of tea - they don't tend to be open to ideas that don't agree with their own.

Racism is about the only thing I dislike about Shropshire since moving here.

Proud Salopian - August 29, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
It's not so much "racism" that's the problem in Shropshire - just sheer ignorance.

This also seems to aply to left-wingers as well
