Title: Felixstowe

Anyone care to leave a comment about Felixstowe? Good or bad place to visit/live? I'm thinking about applying for a job there. I know where it is, but we didn't have time to go anywhere in the east or southeast this past summer.

I'll have to check out the website later, as I hadn't seen that one, and I need to get ready for work. I've been to real estate sites...Tripadvisor...youtube...etc. I was just curious to hear comments from any of you that might have visited there....e.g. it's a hellhole.....economically depressed.....beautiful resort area (ha!). Thanks!

Been to Harwich which is a stone's throw away.
It's a ferry port and freight shipping place.
Now idea what the town is like, but the coast to the north is very nice.

Same question....only about Ireland....Shannon and Dublin

Someone I know often goes away on short breaks. They have been to several cities in the UK and Europe but the venue that they keep returning to is Dublin. Must be the Guinness.

Didn't get Felixstowe. Shannon, Ireland is even more of a long shot.

Shannon is the back end of nowhere. They divert (or cretainly used to) international flights there to try to boost the regional economy. It's a really busy airport in terms of passenger numbers but it's essentially a field with a tin hut. Well, not quite. I'd stay in America if I were you. No seriously.

OK, Felixstowe is out of the running. Now, it is Liverpool and London. They will pay me an annual amount to cover rent and utilities. I think it should cover the expenses. Now added to the possibilities is London and Liverpool. For example, I would receive 37,000 pounds a year to live in the London area. My question is, and I know this is getting a little personal.....What is your ratio of utilities to rent or mortgage payment?
For example, my house note is around 500 pounds. My utilities run me around 400 pounds. So, utilities are about 80% of my house note. I am including things that may not be construed as utilities such as mobile phone, satellite internet, satellite TV, etc.
Again, my chances are probably slim, but I have been checking out rental property in several locations on the net. However, I know nothing about your cost of utilities.
Thanks!

I didn't get a response on this one a couple of months ago, so could I bring it up again? I've been checking out rental properties in Liverpool and London, but I wanted to find out what you might pay for utilities compared to a house note or rent. Thanks!

Not an easy one to answer, Mark, hence the lack of a response.
I would have thought that, on a like for like basis, London rents would be far higher.
There are number of utility bills that you would need to budget for like electricity and gas, water and council tax. At least you can shop around for the best prices on the first two.

Thanks for the response. I was looking for property for rent on the outskirts of London. I think I could rent a decent bungalow and pay utilities with 3000 pounds a month that they would give me for those expenses.

Hi, Mark. I came across this site which may be of interest
http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/cu...tions/cost.htmlThe cost of living has gone by about 2 to 3% since April but food prices by more.
