Almost daily now we witness on the news the scenes of fatal stabbings on the streets of our country yet no-one seems to tackle this in authority. Surely the time has come when people gather in large numbers, the power for private security companies to have authority to the stop and search individuals as part of a risk assessment. As the law stands only the police have the power of stop and search but they dont have the resources to cover the law it seems. The situation clearly is getting worse and no one seems to be acknowledging this in authority.
I quite agree. And my first suggestion would be to enforce the fine for talking on a mobile while driving. The number of people I see on their phone every day, this would fund the extra police needed. Not to mention all the other crimes that are ignored. Enforce fines for lesser crimes would stamp them out. That would then leave the police free to deal with the bigger crimes. Or is that too simplistic?
