Not trying to be a killjoy here but over the years the eurovision song contest seems to have become more Eurotrash than vision! Whats more I learnt this evening along with three other countries, we the licence payers part- fund the event regardless of where it is. Quality broadcasting NOT me thinks, where is the consultation BBC?

I agree, Andy.

I think the original concept was to help bring countries together but in recent years it has become quite the opposite. Simple solution though - the winning country not only gets to stage the next year's competition but pays all the costs. Some hope.

I think a good way to run the competition would be to just give the contestant a number, thats all, without disclosing their nationality and then the european public can vote on music value not political prowess. I know that we also are a bit political when casting votes, our only musical allies now seem to be Ireland and Malta though they gave us nul points!
I think it would be wrong to do away with the song contest we should be building bridges with our european allies. I think the costs should be shared equally by the tv companies involved in broadcasting it. Some stats on Nul-points The people who make up these sites must be true euroanaraks
