Why is it that the tabloids are now saying things about immigration, and getting away with it,while not so long ago the BNP were saying exactly the same and they were branded racist.

Because nowadays, headlines concerning immigration, the EU, Islamic hardliners, etc sells papers, Avron - It's as simple as that.

Btw, the BNP's party political broadcast tonight was very good. Here it is, in case you missed it, http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0ysT5Du9Q7M

The BNP always get tarnished with the wrong brush and lets face both Labour and conservative do very little to address things. Wonder what Enoc would say. If you even say you support the BNP your shot down in flames yet other minoritiy groups are freely opposing our laws and customs, and indeed have affected the way we live. I think people are so sick and tired of being downtrodded they will indeed turn to and vote for this party what other options are they? Gordon isnt listerning or indeed making the situation any better and will David Cameron?

The BNP policies are clearly set out on their web site so if anybody is thinking of supporting them you can see exactly what they stand for. The same goes for UKIP. You might find some of these policies attractive, extremist or amusing but there they are, plainly set out, for all to see. Pity there isn't such detail on some other political party sites.l

A few video clips of a recent Shrewsbury BNP meeting - Just listen to the applause of the audience at the end. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MHqtqkyTuoo
The meeting room was packed out - Standing room only. Any other local political group would be lucky to get half the number at one of their meetings.

America Needs A Leader Like This!

[Prime Minister John Howard - Australia ]
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.
Quote:
'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians, as we have never seen before.'
'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.'
'We speak mainly ENGLISH¦ not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, then you have no choice but to learn 'our' language!'
'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'
'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'
'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are finished complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom¦
'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.'
'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'
Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

A head of state with a backbone,WE WANT HIM HERE.

Andy Cooke - May 31, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
Man with backbone, perhaps. Only words on paper though The aussies have never been men of carefully chosen words, they have only just let women into public bars, socially. Stirring up a hornets nest more like!

As far as your thoughts Mark about America needing a president like that could, in a similar context, have a disasterous effect on most americans as not many are native of your country, apart from the Indians. I thought america like our ex-primeminister had warmongering leaders, neither have fought in any wars themselves, many have died because of their descisions. Personally I feel that diplomacy works better than dictator speak, we could have avoided such death and destruction in Iraq this way.

No-one needs a leader like that; not even, you'll observe, the Australians. Not only did they vote John Howard out of office, he even lost his seat in the Australian parliament. The Australians had the sense to replace him with someone who pledged to treat all people with decency and respect, something notably absent from the distasteful post above.

Recent election results in this country have shown, reassuringly, that we in the UK have even less enthusiasm for hate-filled, racist nonsense than the Australians.

It wasn't your post I was referring to; it was Mark's re-post of the John Howard quotes.

No, I don't necessarily agree with EVERYTHING he said. And, no, all of what he is "proposing" would not work here. However, being someone that deals with immigrants on almost a daily basis, I believe that as he said you should accept the country YOU accepted.

I don't see the point of implementing a "national language" and you can worship any one or thing you choose. But, I hear people say, "Well, they've been in the country for years. They need to become U.S. citizens." Or that immigrants must learn English.

It does amaze me that there are immigrants that have lived in this country for 20-30 years and can't speak a word of English. But, that's their choice. If they can get by without it, that's fine. That's their loss.

I use this as an example. If I were to marry someone from say, Bulgaria and I plan on spending the rest of my days there....I'll have legal documents to reside there. Will I become a Bulgarian citizen and possibly renounce my U.S. citizenship? No. Do I want to learn another language? Not really. But, if I am going to live there, I am going to try and eventually be fluent.
