Parking in Shropshire is regulated by an outfit called Park Right run by the County Council by the look of it. Under nationwide changes, what we used to know as traffic wardens will now become civil enforcement officers.
Whereas today there is a £60 penalty charge, from 31st March there will be an enforcement charge proportional to the "contravention's seriousness". "Higher penalties of £70 will apply for such matters as parking on double yellow line and a lesser charge of £50 for overstaying on a meter". However there will be a 50% discount for these heinous crimes if you pay within 14 days.
In a recent court case, a guy from Telford was convicted of giving a false name to a police officer, driving without insurance, without a test certificate and without a licence.
He was disqualified and fined £275.
I wonder how much change you'd get after paying for insurance and a MOT from £275?
