Title: 24 Hour Drinking

So, in an effort to create more active threads, I'm going to quote this short article from the Shropshire Star website.

QUOTE
"Late night revellers in Shrewsbury town centre are using doorways as toilets and making noise into the early hours, it was claimed today.

Dr Alan Shrank, a member of the influential Shrewsbury Town Centre Residents’ Association, today said he would welcome a return to the previous licensing laws which saw most pubs close their doors at 11pm.

He said residents had tolerated months of noise and anti-social behaviour following the late licences.

His comments follow calls by Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski for David Cameron to scrap 24-hour licensing laws if he is elected at the next General Election."

Sounds like an article produced in response to another self-promoting fax to the Sloppy Star from our illustrious MP. I can't say I've noticed a particular increase in noise and/or doorway urination in the town centre since pub opening hours were extended.

Shouldn't this thread be titled "24 hour drinking"?? I can change it if you like..

As for "24 hour drinking" - it's nonsense. Most bars have to close in Shrewsbury during the week around 12 or 1. On Fridays and Saturdays maybe as late as 2 or 3. On Sundays earlier again. It's not 24 hour drinking.

Isn't it strange that the Borough Council licenses late opening hours for pubs and clubs and yet the only public toilets in the town centre, open in the evenings at Raven Meadows, close at 11:00 pm (but at 5:00 pm on a Sunday). Link

Yes it should be. Not sure where the 'dancing' bit came from, if I'm honest! Still mesmerised by that Eurovision performance, probably.
