Title: Did I Dream Hills Lane Auction Room?

Hi all..Can anyone please help...I have this memory from when I must of been around 6-7 years old(44 now),of being taken along by my mum & auntie to an auction room(..I obviously didn't make the reserve! ...)Now for some reason I remember it as being somewhere along Hills Lane, probably around the cycle shop end but looking now,I can't for the life of me see where it could have been!
My mum(who's no longer with us) didn't recall the trip or the auction room!...Does anyone else recall it? or where else it possible could have been?...I'm pretty sure it was in the town(I think  )....

It must have been a fair size to hold auctions. Hills Lane, cycle shop...could it have been on Caenarvon Lane above the pub? I think that's been a museum and a church meeting room before that. Can't remember what else it's been used for.

I remember reading something about that somewhere, but I can't recall where or what I read now (damn cheap liquor stores :)). I have a vague memory too of there once being a building in the space where Argos now has its loading bays - that used to be fun when I lived in Hill's Lane, watching the lorries trying to get in - so it might be whatever was there.

Also, I think they held/have auctions in Rowley's House from time to time. That might be it.

Failing that, I'd go with the old codger's suggestion relating to what is now Lloyds in the Town, or else what is now the Village because it does have some sort of loading bay itself.

Or else we're all completely wrong and it's the Market Hall or the Lion Hotel, both of which had quite a few.

..I still feel that the stretch of Hills Lane around Lloyds-The Gift shop-Cycle shop-Photo studio.. is the favourite candidate..I dont recall the room being very big(just being told to keep still.."in case I bought something"!)..and I do recall the entrance being quite pokey and claustraphobic(..possibly the bottom of a small stairwell?).. that would seem to fit with the room above Lloyds I suppose..(..although I'm still not fully convinced  )
