Title: Frankwell Recycling Point & Visitors

I posted some time ago that I wondered if the re-cyling point at Frankwell was in the best position.

We sort our cans, glass, papers and plastics and take them to the nearest re-cycling point or leave them out for collection. Our green waste is collected for re-cycling as well so I am in no way knocking the council's efforts to promote re-cycling.

I was in Frankwell car park yesterday and it struck me that the re-cycling point is right next to the coach parking. Wouldn't visitors arriving by coach to the Town of Flowers expect to see a floral display and a visitor information board rather than a load of green bins? It would be a simple matter to move the re-cycling point to the other side of the steps surely or would that spoil the view from the Guildhall?

Other things that visitors getting off a coach would look for would be toilets and somewhere to get a cuppa but they would have a long trek to track those facilities down. Why wasn't a visitor information centre/ cafe/ toilet facility provided when the Guildhall was built? The old Holland Broadbridge building or the Maltings would be ideal for that now. First impressions count and I wonder how many visitors arriving by coach would want to return?

well personally i dont think the conucil are promoting recycling enough.
we live just outside of teh village of dorrington and even though i have enquired about recycling i have been told that teh council pick up recycling from dorrington and actually go past our lane to picklescott where they also pick up the recycling but they wont pick ours up despite going past!!!
we have been given a box which we now use to recycle bottles which we take to our local bottle bank but that is all.
they do not pick up green waste from us either, so i have therefore ordered a composting bin back in june. i was told it would be with me within 30 days. i then called and asked wheree it had got to and was promised it would be with me within 14 days-again nothing and when i called again was promised it would be with me within 10 days-still nothing
none of this is very encouraging i dont think..l.
