Hey eveyone, im currently a third year goegraphy student at Cardiff University and im completing my dissertation on the movement of Shrewsbury Town Football Club from the Gay Meadow to the New Meadow in relation to the fans of the team!!
I have a 4 main research questions that if people could maybe leave a response to then it would be greatly appreciated and very helpful in my study! I am looking at fans rituals and the match day culture of Shrewsbury and this is reflected in my questions... they are...
(1) What were your rituals befor attending a game at the Gay Meadow? In terms of how you got there, where you met, who you met up with etc...
(2) How have these rituals or habits been altered by the move to the new stadium? Do you do a lot differently? Has your routine been altered?
(3) Did the Gay Meadow have a special feeling for you? If so what was it that made it this way?? Do you think that the New Meadow will generate feelings like these, and if so how long do you think it will take...if ever?
(4)To what extent do you think that the fans and their arrangements were considered? Was the move necessary enough to warrant a lot of hassle towards the supporters or did the football club need it to progress? Was the move's likelihood increased by the want for more profits??
If people could let me know their answers then it would be great, thanks a lot, Nathan
Wow, I'm not the only Cardiff student on this forum! I'm afraid I can't answer your questions though - I've only ever seen Town play once, and I don't live in Shrewsbury...
