Title: Flooding
Description: Were you left high and dry?

schizoidgal - June 29, 2007 11:29 AM (GMT)
We were due to relocate to Shropshire with my husbands work but, unfortunately, we lost our buyer about a month ago as they didn't have enough money  after 6 weeks  and the house we were after in Meole Brace was popped back on the market as a result.

Anyhow, we was just wondering whether Shrewsbury stayed nice and dry during the last week or not. Mind you, reading the post on the weir, I think you needed a spot of water!

We avoided the new builds near Underdale as they were encroaching on the Met Offices extreme flood plain guide, but did they get wet?

My in-laws are no help as they are a little stuck at the mo but I bet they are mightily happy they sold their 2nd property in Tenbury Wells a few years back.

Thanks and hope to up by Christmas,
Schizoidgal.

Hi schizoidgal,

We had no problems in Shrewsbury although Much Wenlock, Ironbridge and Telford caught most of the problems.

What a shame you lost out on the house I'm sure something will come along soon.

Chris.

Thanks for that.

Ludlow didn't fare too well either did it.

The road is quite wide where the bridge was and cars can be parked on either side without restricting traffic. I have parked there myself. Thank goodness the bridge didn't collapse during the day. The river there is just a stream normally so I was shocked to see the raging torrent it had become.

Sorry to see your move fell through.

My sympathies, Schizoidgal. Something very similar has just happened to us.

Aww, thanks guys. It hasn't happened yet but, it will and we will be escaping the South East.

Just trying to sort out a holiday let so the children can get used to the place....

Wish me luck.
