Title: A Shropshire Lad Returning... (intro)

Aw forgeddit. <_<
Didn't like the (rather obvious) negative and stereotyping reference to "early retired" people - As ever, and conveniently(?) in another thread! But I shall still look forward to meeting the more open-minded residents of the town... offline. :)

Hi Mac I'll Welcome you You being a Mac and Me being a Laird (legally as some people wonder) We must have something in common. You will find people(posters) on this forum are very cliquee ? and you a stranger will be ignored ,but keep trying .I am retired disabled and a Salopian born & bred, with other roots in Scotland,I have posted quite a few times and still the locals ignore me .It's as if they think " I dont know him so I wont Speak to him" With a bit of luck that will rattle a few cages and wake people up.Dont hold your breath !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back to Salop, Macavity.
When people post requests for help on this board they usually get useful feedback so I don't think it could be said that strangers are ignored. I've seen comments on other forums suggesting that there is a clique so it seems to be a common thing. I remember a chap at work who had moved here saying how reserved he found Shrewsbury folk. Perhaps that is part of the perception? Any road up, I find this board a good read and the photos are worth a visit in themselves.

I think that because there are only a few active posters on this forum it can be quite slow. Just because your thread doesn't get flooded with replies in the first few hours doesn't mean people are being snobbish and ignoring you, just that they don't spend all day looking at tis website!

I can only speak as I find and I wasn't ignored on this board as a new member and so far I have found the people in & around the town very freindly.

Thanks for taking the time to reply folks. Yeah, I do get a bit "miffed" sometimes - When folks who don't know me, make assumptions. Anyway, looks like you might be stuck with me for a while. If not in virtuality, in reality. Just "sentenced" myself to living in Castlefields. FWIW, I liked pretty much everything I saw in Shrewsbury town, Castlefields etc. Maybe sometimes these gets a "bad rap" on the internet? :P
Aside: Since I'm (apparently) in the "Northern Corridor", anyone know of a source (online?) of more detailed plans for the MEB Persimmons development? Not over-bothered by the "future demography", just wondering about potential for East-West "Rat-Runs" - Especially though my garden, much vaunted "designated parking space" etc.
