I would like a reply from the Rspca or a worker. What do you do to justify your position in the public eye .
let me explain I am disabled and live on benefits !I am also an animal lover ....
About two weeks ago my cat had a very badly broken leg,it has since been amputated, Now the bill is large, about 3 weeks of benefits, so I rang the the rspca to see if they could help in some way .I was told" if you cant afford to look after your pets you should not have them" when I tried to explain I have had the cat 8years and I had been disabled for 5 years She said that was not her problem !! end of call She did not seem concerned about the cat at all......
Another instance the vet I use ,when told the above, said I am not suprised we have been waiting 2 weeks for them to collect an animal from us!!
Also I had to report a person who had a dog that was only skin and bone They said we will be round I took that to mean next day No it was 3 weeks later when they turned up and said the dogs ok, well by then, for the dogs sake, I had told the owner She had been reported and she was giving the dog 3 meals a day and fattened it up nicely !!!
So Please If you are not interested in me and my Pets WHY should I put money in your collecting tins (I have probally over the years given you more money than my vet's bill) No More You've had your lot out of me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Small problem with the PDSA if I had not taken the cat to the vet ?? but rang them first they might have been able to help!!!! Acctually The Blue Cross have been the biggest help and are looking to help with the final bill................
Glad you found some kind of solution.
Aside: I see you now have your own (Relaunched!) branch of "Cat's Protection" - I favour their
caring attitude (personal experience) over many organisations...
http://www.cats.org.uk/branch/shrewsbury/Obviously, "vet-funding" is another question, but their initial ADVICE is usually sound! They also (Well, my local branch) provided me with my SPLENDID "rescued" cat... :)
The Blue Cross have helped with a large donation !!! No Questions asked except to check with the vet..
I would Like to thank ABBEY Veterinary Centre Holywell street Shrewsbury for looking after "Keith" (the cat) He is now hoping around on 3 legs!!!! And also thank "The Blue Cross"Britains pet charity for their help.......
