Title: Lord Hill's Column

Could someone help me with this? I thought I remembered that Lord Hill's statue used to face down London Road so that he was seen by everyone approaching Shrewsbury on what was then the main road into town but that when the statue was repaired in the 1990s it was put back facing the town - the reason being that London Road was no longer a main road and it just looked as if Lord Hill had his back turned on the town.

I'm beginning to think I imagined this.

No, Lord Hill has always faced down Abbey Foregate towards town.
Don't know what made you think he was looking the other way.

I thought I remembered a report about it on the radio at the time but I must have imagined it!

Thanks for putting me right.
