Title: River Life - A Swan Family
organic333 - May 30, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
Just came back from the river having seen a pair of swans with no fewer than eight grey fluffy signets, near to the Dana. I have personally never seen such a big family. Get down there and take a look before they all grow up!

If you don't have your own webspace, where you could upload the pic, start a free account at www.photobucket.com or www.flickr.com
When the pic is uploaded (you click an 'upload' button and you're then directed to click to where the file is on your computer), these sites tell you what the link to the picture is.
When posting on a forum, you can add a pic by clicking the "IMG" button above and pasting the link in.
The pic will then appear in your post.

Thanks folks! ( or rather thanks to my extremely large but occasionally useful son who helped me out as when I tried to put the photo on, I was told I was an invalid!!!) :D
Opps, spoke too soon, dynamic pages in the [IMG] not allowed, whatever that means. :(

Taking a shortcut along the river from the station this evening, I saw the 8 cygnets in all their grey fluffy glory, plus the two parents. Unfortunately, they were stuck on one of the islands under English Bridge, which is not perhaps the most photogenic backdrop. Anyway, here is the view from English Bridge looking downstream.

And zooming in...

Finally, the view of English Bridge from the bottom of St Mary's Water Lane was rather splendid around 7pm, particularly since the river was as calm as a mill pond.

well i have to say we are very lucky as we have a big pond in front of our house on which we have swans every year and we try to protect them if we can. but they do only seem to have had 1 cygnet at a time.
i got married there too but they obviously dont like parties as they left just before my wedding! :D

Just spotted 2 adults with cygnets (6-8 of them I think) swimming about between the Boathouse and Welsh Bridge. Same family as the English Bridge / Dana lot? Or are they the swans that were rescued from the May floods and sent on holiday to Much Wenlock?
Cheers for the great photos by the way!
