What do you all think about the congestion charge, coming from London originally I find myself asking.Where is the congestion in shrewsbury ? is it just another money making scheme.

There isn't the same congestion as London that's why the proposed scheme for Shrewsbury wouldn't be the same. It's perfectly common to queue for 20 mins plus to travel the 3/4 mile from Greenfields into town though and as road use will just continue to increase and the town centre roads are going to stay the same size, something needs to be done. I'd rather do it now than wait until traffic is as bad as London.

I think a scheme whereby anyone entering the loop of the river during peak times was charged £2.50 and given a 2 hour parking voucher would discourage through trips which add to congestion but wouldn't harm the town centre economy as people stopping wouldn't be paying extra. The money earned can help pay for transport improvements.
