Title: A49 Improvements
Description: In need of some TLC

It is interesting to note that another stretch of the A49 in Herefordshire near Berrington Hall is being re-surfaced. Both north and south of Hereford the A49 has undergone major re-surfacing work over the past 2 years, whereas the South Shropshire section remains largely neglected with just the main potholes being patched up. When is something going to be done about the state of the deteriorating road surface between the Ludlow Eco Park and Woofferton?

i live south of shrewsbury and both me and my husband did actually try to complain to the council about the state of the road from bayston hill to dorrington as it was getting really bad and the road was falling away so badly we were worried an awful accident could occur as we all know how dangerous this road is anyway! but we were told it is not the council that decide on the road works and it is actually amey mouchel that are in charge of this, so of course to increase their profits they leave any repairs or roadworks until the last minute.
i did therefore email amey mouchel a few times complaining about the surface and was told it would be done in the new financial year-which was obviously april as the repairs were done about mid april, however it really needs completely resurfacing which i believe will happen in september.
i presume therefore that up to ludlow at least must be again under amey mouchels contract so maybe it would be worth you trying to email them about your stretch of road too??
they did reply so it is worth a try

I drive Bayston Hill to Dorrington and back each day and had an exact route through all the pot holes. Now they made that half attempt at resurfacing I'm still working on my new route through the bumps and dips :) Thanks for the info about September.

Thanks for that Kate - I will see what they have to say about it. Amey Mouchel can't possibly have anything to do with Herefordshire then because most of the A49 on their patch is much better maintained. In fact much of the stretch between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye has been re-surfaced over the past couple of years. And it's nothing to do with usage because the entire length of the A49 takes the same pounding from HGV's.

i have noticed that although amey mouchel have only recently done some dubious repairs to the bayston hill stretch of the road, there already appears to be yet more pot holes occuring!!
lets hope they do it properly next time. its all about profit isnt it??
