Has anyone been to the so called German beer festival in the quary,i have, and i thought it was pants compared to the one that was held in the square two years ago.

Yes, I bumbled across it while I was taking the kids for a walk in the Quarry but only stayed for about 10 minutes. It wasn't that impressive -I sampled a pint of German beer and it cost me a whopping £3.50!!
The folk band that were playing in the marquee at the time weren't too bad though.

I wondered through the quarry yesterday, it did not look fantastic certainly not up the standard of the beer festival the was in the square previously.

I went, it was ok but I agree that the last one in the square was better, £3-£3.50 for 500ml isn't great value and the service at the bar was pretty slow, in Bavaria they would have had leather-clad barmaids bringing the beer to your table too! :P

I was told that the barmaids were dressed as Germans but were in fact English, the oompa band was from Manchester and played Greek style music at times and if i wanted to listen to folk music i would go to the Three Tunns at Bishops Castle,i too have been to a proper German beer festival ,this pathetic attempt was no where near the mark. For the cost of a £35 return air ticket you can try the real thing in Munich and the ale was less than £3.50 for a LITRE.

avronb, just thought I'd mention Darwin, he may well have stood and admired a wild flower just where you were supping your beer. Now you can't say that in Munich, can you? ;)

was really looking forward to it, but it was poor!
the continental market in the square was much better.
