Since I have known Iam moving to Shrewsbury I have been checking out this forum for some inside info, imagine my concern when I read "they are a rum lot in Abbey Foregate" guess which area I am moving into :o

New Job, New home, New area..oh & I just got divorced then I read they are a rum lot where I am moving to according to the experts my stress levels should have me huddled in a corner twitching with a very attractive dribble eminating from the corner of my mouth :blink: Seriously though is it really that bad? mind you I did see it on a particularly lovely sunny day :D

Anyway I will be popping in & out till moving day (June 7th) then I will probably be barricaded behind my front door donned in a very attractive tin hat & flack jacket with Mr Baseball bat at my side LOL

Shrewsbury's daytime/night-time classes (well, actually Shropshire's, as the Gateway is related to a number of other similar locations across the county). I took a quick glance and there are at least some Italian courses around the place.

I know every Town, Village and City have their "rum" elements just don't want that tarry brush waving in my direction when I move there :lol:

Welcome Oh Mystical one. Abbey Foregate is a real mixed bag, there are some very nice properties and some right dosshouses all next to each other. I don't think you'll see much trouble though really, you can leave the flak jacket at home!!

It's handy for the town centre and there's a nice bar/restaurant called The Peach Tree, a good curry house and a few decent pubs nearby so you could do a lot worse.

Where are you moving from?

I assume your new house isn't No. 7 Abbey Foregate, is it? :)

Number Seven was Shrewsbury's most notorious brothel/squat/crack house. After a police raid, it was closed down last year...I hope you haven't bought it to refurbish and reinhabit :-)
