Title: Shopping

Just wondered if people thought the shops in Shrewsbury were adequate?
or do you go further a field?
or do you prefer Telford?

Shrewsbury every time.
all the big names and loads of small independant shops.
out of town shopping is also very good in Shrewsbury but you should use the town centre whenever possible.

Quite frankly I'd rather chew my own leg off than go shopping in Telford... :ph43r:

I would agree with David. I think Telford has no characteur for me at all and I'm sure Thomas Telford has turned several times in his grave on the insult to his name that people call Telford. I have only been there once ! :(
I do however for a kwik bulk shop rather than go to town I go to Cheshire Oaks outlet at Ellesmere Port :)

Shrewsbury has most things you need and if occassionally I want more choice i'd rather a day trip to Birmingham or Manchester city centres, Telford is utterly charmless.

i do agree. Shrewsbury is preferable everytime! and the park and ride does help with getting ino town as parking can be a nightmare(although getting a pram on the bus isnt always easy as people always sit in the disabled bit which is for prams and wheelchairs and often ignore you trying to get out of other peoples way so they can keep their seat)
i just wondered if more people went to telford etc now cos of shrewsburys parking problems. i dont like telford much but we go sometimes as they have some shops we dont have here but if we want a change it is ususally chester we go to. which is full of character just like shrewsbury and the shops such as m and s have more choice.

Parking's not a problem for me as I live close enough to town to walk in. Is it really that bad? I seem to remember that there were always places in Raven Meadows when I lived elsewhere and brought the car.

Raven Meadows car park is vere rarely full you just have to avoid level 7 where the lazier members of society do circuit training, going round and round looking for the their holy grail,a space near to the doors.

I know of a gym where most of the patrons seem to be desperate to park as close as possible to the entrance!
